Making Space Where It Counts

Posted on Updated on

I finished off 2023 by going through numerous storage bins that were filled with photos, mementos, and historical family records. I didn’t enjoy it, but I am glad I spent the time to do so. I wrote about that emotional process in my column that appears in an online Australian publication called Grandparents Day Magazine. I welcome you to click on the link. Perhaps it will encourage rather than discourage you to do the same.

Be well, stay well, y’all.

    Irene,
I read your article, because I have to do the same thing. We “downsized” five years ago, but our new house has a basement. Our next place will have very little storage. So I must reduce about 30 boxes to about 6. Photographs. Old financial records. Things from our kids’ childhood. Some I’ll ship to our children. Some photos I’ll digitize (though I dread the choices involved in that process). Much can be shredded.
Your article is a good inspiration.

I’m glad my effort might help you. It is ARDUOUS to be sure but so very necessary. I wish you the best in your “Making Space” effort.

Thanks so much! That end-of-year emotional heavy lifting certainly did beef up my bravery quotient.
