Be You

Posted on Updated on

This will be a very short post to encourage you to be who you are. Although I am only mentioning three aspects of being (two of which that are personally applicable to me) I think we can all agree that as individuals, we have the right to express ourselves and be ourselves in the best way possible to live authentically. It’s really the easiest task you can fulfill: TO BE YOU.

If you express yourself by what you wear or by the color of your hair, that to others may seem out of the norm: Continue to express yourself in that manner.

If, like me, your language is sometimes what is considered “swearing like a sailor”: Continue to swear like a sailor, taking into consideration sensitive young ears that aren’t ready to hear such words or in circumstances that just about everyone would consider inappropriate. I trust you to choose your audience with care as I do when swearing mightily like a sailor when I feel circumstances warrant such expletives.

And finally, but perhaps the most important of all, at least to me:

If you tend to care deeply about and for others, a caring that can cause you to lose sleep or peace of mind from time to time, or perhaps your caring is considered going overboard to some: Continue to care deeply because if each of us can improve our little corner of the world, maybe each and every corner of the world will eventually be kinder than it was before we started caring so deeply.

Whatever you do, please be you.

Love who you love. Love your neighbor as yourself. Spread kindness to your neighbor.

EVERYONE IS YOUR NEIGHBOR.

What's on your mind?
