About me: I worked on behalf of Senior Citizens for just under 20 years. I am now in that category so I guess one could say that I can clearly relate. The main focus of my adult work life has been as an advocate for vulnerable adults in long-term care (LTC) facilities. Additionally, having been the primary caregiver for my father who died from Alzheimer’s in 2007, I cherished my role as an Alzheimer’s Association caregiver support group Facilitator where I guided families through the difficult process of caring for their loved ones with dementia. One of my newest roles is as a grandmother; I am affectionally called Grammo, by my grandson and my granddaughter.
Since 2013, I have written two novels, one of which, REQUIEM FOR THE STATUS QUO was published July of 2017. My page Irene the Novelist will provide greater details about my novel writing exploits. I also have a Byline in the online publication, Grandparents Day Magazine, called In Your Corner.
This blog’s nitty-gritty: This blog first started out with an emphasis on the Baby Boomer generation (1946-1964) but has morphed into a blog for everyone, as I explained on my first post of 2017. Let’s face it, the struggles or victories you face now, or will someday face, aren’t all that different from those experienced by those younger or older than you. Your experiences may look a bit different from those of others, but their foundation is the same.
Wouldn’t you rather face life with the beneficial wisdom that others have gleaned from their complementary life experiences than be alone on your journey?

I found you via Jill’s blog…am following! I am a boomer who is right smack dab in the middle of those years (1954). Both folks are gone now, and most of their generation of family…sigh. Dad was 93 when he passed last year.

I just discovered your blog. Having lived in Washington for many years, I find the articles in the Seattle Times very interesting too. I am a caregiver for my dad with Alzheimer’s though he does live in an assisted living facility. Thanks for your interesting blog.

It took me awhile to personalize my Blog. The photo on top is one I took while in Tampa, FL a few years ago while on business w/my husband. The photo shows a portion of the glass mural outside of the Children’s Museum. I keep finding new tools w/in WordPress. I’m impressed with the WordPress Blog engine which was recommended by my brother and my daughter.

One thing is for sure Mike, although I’m not an expert, I sincerely value the opportunity to contribute some sort of wisdom to our aging population – which is everyone who’s still drawing a breath! I hope other people will submit comments/suggestions to benefit the rest of us. We’re all taking it one day at a time, aren’t we? And we’re more or less creating the play book that will get us through the challenges.
